Intelligent Networks (IN)

Typically provides a layer of intelligence over traditional "dumb" networks. An example is prepaid INs which control access to the network based on a prepaid balance. INs are typically tightly integrated with the underlying network. Many next-generation network services being developed today are leveraging IMS standards rather than the IN model.
