"The
broadband providers are facing the challenge of how they evolve
their BSS and OSS infrastructures to deal with what is really
a new market environment that is less of an operational problem
and more of a marketing problem … defining what their relationship
is with the subscriber and other partners," said Dave McNierney,
vice president of market development at HighDeal. "The pendulum
swings between the notion that everything should be flat rate
to the notion that everything should be pure pay per view
… back and forth. The key for broadband providers is to have
the flexibility to enable their front office people to figure
out how customers are going to pay for this service."
