Online charging: how to scale massively while keeping
TCO low?
As marketplace dynamics change,
telecom operators face tremendous service and operational
challenges. On one hand, they are under pressure to
introduce, change and remove services very rapidly,
and at the same time, they must respond to increased
transaction volumes created by the widespread adoption
of IP communications.
Consequently, they need to bring
massive scalability into their systems at the lowest
possible cost in order to stay competitive. Often, this
requires an upgrade of their prepaid and billing systems
to enable online charging, a solution that can work
to differentiate services, meet customer payment demands
and reduce revenue risk.
Nigel Upton, BSS Products
General Manager at Hewlett Packard and Fergus
O’Reilly, Chief Technical Officer at Highdeal,
will explore the challenges and propose solutions to
questions such as: what are the benefits of online charging,
and how will online charging evolve in the future? How
does online charging impact the infrastructure?
What kind of performance and TCO can operators expect
today? How are operators deploying online charging?
